Jobelle Quijano (b. 2000) is an artist based in Toronto, Ontario. She graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) and a minor in Art History. Primarily working in oil paint, she navigates themes of femininity, desire, angst, nostalgia, transcendence, and ritual, through a fantastical and post-internet lens, filtered through kitsch aesthetics of girlhood and alternative subculture. Her work blurs the lines between the inner and outer world to convey emotional catharsis, identity and intimacy found in online spaces, the transformative power of eroticism, and the self as otherworldly.
